Editorial standards

Evidence before confidence.

These standards explain how Psychedelic Medicine Report researches, writes, labels, reviews and corrects its educational content.

Our role

Psychedelic Medicine Report is an independent educational publication edited by Lee-Roy Kilgallon. It is not a clinic, healthcare provider, academic journal or substitute for professional care.

Source hierarchy

We prioritise primary and authoritative material: peer-reviewed research, trial registrations and protocols, regulator decisions, government guidance, professional standards and official datasets. Reviews and reputable secondary reporting may provide context, but they do not replace the underlying source when it is available.

Evidence and uncertainty

Findings are described in proportion to the study design and evidence available. Observational associations are not presented as proof of causation. Early findings, small samples, functional unblinding, expectancy effects, selective populations and short follow-up are identified when they materially affect interpretation.

Safety and medical boundaries

Articles are written for education and evidence literacy. They do not provide a diagnosis, treatment recommendation, dosing instruction or encouragement to use a controlled substance. Relevant risks, uncertainty, legal context and the limits of general information are included where appropriate.

Expert and clinical review labels

An article is labelled expert reviewed or clinically reviewed only when a suitably qualified person has examined it for factual accuracy and interpretation. The reviewer’s scope, name and relevant credentials are published with permission. If no independent review has taken place, the article says so. Expert review is not an endorsement of the publication and does not transfer editorial responsibility.

Artificial intelligence

AI tools may assist with outlining, drafting, language refinement, source discovery or production tasks. They are not treated as authorities, authors, clinicians or expert reviewers. Published material is selected, edited and checked by the editor, and important factual claims are checked against identifiable sources wherever possible.

Conflicts, funding and commercial influence

Material financial relationships, sponsorships, affiliate arrangements or relevant conflicts will be disclosed clearly. Editorial conclusions are not sold. Sponsored material, if introduced in future, will be visibly distinguished from independent editorial work.

Corrections and updates

Material factual errors are corrected promptly once verified. Significant changes should be recorded in an editorial note with the nature and date of the amendment. Routine improvements to grammar, formatting or broken links may be made without a correction notice.

Challenge the work

Readers, researchers and professionals are invited to identify errors or missing context through the Contact & Corrections page. Specific passages and primary supporting sources are especially helpful.
